           Binocular Vision Therapy Karthik Netralaya

Karthik Netralaya now offers a very unique and full fledged
"Vision Therapy Clinic" to manage a wide range of visual defects, often seen in young children and prolonged Computer users with various binocular vision problems.
What is vision therapy?
It is a type of physical therapy for improving the eye functions, the inter-relation between two eyes, hand and brain. It is a highly effective & non invasive therapy for several visual problems, eg. lazy eye, crossed eyes, double vision, focusing & learning disabilities, eye ache & strains, intermittent blurring, headaches etc. related to binocular eye usage. Reading and learning disabilities in children needs multidisciplinary approach and vision therapy needs to be integrated with other training programs. Many patients who have been told, "it's too late," or "you'll have to learn to live with it" have greatly benefited from Vision therapy!

What is involved in a Vision Therapy program?
It consists of a comprehensive program of 'exercises', performed under the care of an Ophthalmologist and Developmental Optometrist. The program is Individualized to fit the diagnosis & visual needs of each patient conducted in the clinic, once or twice weekly in sessions lasting for 30 to 60 minutes. If needed, it can be supplemented by home exercises.
Binocular Vision Therapy is advised to improve fundamental visual skills and abilities, to improve visual comfort, ease & efficiency, and to change how a patient processes or interprets visual information.
Vision Therapy is not just eye exercises!

Vision Therapy is not to be confused with so many self-help programs of eye exercises, aimed at reducing eye power (of course is never possible!). The goal of Vision Therapy is not to strengthen eye muscles, which are already very strong.

Many very specialized equipment are used in Vision Therapy programs. Corrective & therapeutic lenses, Prisms, Optical filters, Occluders or eye patches, Specialised stereo-Computer software, balance boards, visual-motor-sensory integration training devices etc. are some of them.
