Soft contact lens care

Before inserting your contact lenses
• Keep a small mirror, washed lint free towel, a clean bowl, washed and dry contact lens case, multipurpose lens solution and your soft contact lenses ready.
• Better to have your nails trimmed. Wash your hands with baby soap under running water. Air dry your hands; avoid wiping your hands either with a towel or tissue.

Inserting the Lens into the eye
• Don't open both the caps of your lens case together. Handle right eye contact lens first to avoid mixing ups.
• Shake the lens case well, open one cap and pour contents on your left palm.
• Place the lens on the tip of your right index finger. Ensure that the lens is not inverted with the Taco test. Look straight ahead with both eyes wide open.
• Pull the lower eye lid down with your middle finger of the right hand.
• Lift the upper lid & its lashes with index finger of the left hand.
• Gently place the lens on the cornea or lower sclera.
• Look down, blink and than close both eyes for few seconds. Check if distant vision is clear. Repeat the same for the other eye.

Removing the contact lenses
• Before removing lenses, close each eye and check if distance vision is clear!
• Look up and pull the lower lid down with the middle finger of your right hand.
• Place the index finger on the lower part of the contact lens and slide it down to the lower white part of the eye. The lens may come out now, if not pinch the lens lightly with your thumb and index finger and remove it gently. Clean and store.
• Repeat for the other eye.

Cleaning and storing your lenses
• Clean the lenses soon after removal.
• Place a lens on your left palm. Pour few drops of multipurpose solution and gently rub the lens side to side both horizontally and vertically with the index finger of right hand. Repeat this cycle 3 times. Don't use rotary movements for rubbing.
• Rinse the lens in multipurpose solution to remove the debris.
• Fill the lens case with fresh solution & place the lens fully immersed. Check the lens at the bottom before closing the lens case! Do not use water or any other solutions to clean or store the lenses.
• Don't touch the tip of the multipurpose bottle. Keep the bottle closed always.
• Clean the lens case thoroughly with a soft toothbrush under running water once a week & dry it. Change your lens case every 6 months.
